Managing Your Domain

Your site starts on a *.kbdsystems.com subdomain. Most owners point a custom domain (like yourbusiness.com) at it.

TODO: Content Director — Replace with a friendly step-by-step. Cover three cases: (A) buying a new domain through us, (B) pointing a domain you own, (C) moving from a Squarespace/Wix/GoDaddy site.

What you can do

A. Buy a new domain through us

The easiest path: pick a domain at checkout and we register and configure it for you.

TODO: Content Director — Document the buy-domain flow once finalized.

B. Point a domain you already own

If you already own a domain (at GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains, Squarespace, etc.), you point it at our servers.

TODO: Content Director — Cover the per-registrar DNS instructions. At a minimum:

  • Apex A record → 76.76.21.21
  • www CNAMEcname.vercel-dns.com

Include screenshots from at least GoDaddy and Cloudflare.

C. Move from another website

If your old site is at Squarespace / Wix / etc., the cutover takes about 5 minutes:

  1. We pre-stage your new KBD Systems site on a temporary URL.
  2. You approve it.
  3. You (or we, if you give us access) update DNS at your old registrar.
  4. The old site goes dark; the new site goes live.

TODO: Content Director — Document email continuity (e.g., Google Workspace MX records that must be preserved).

How long does it take?

  • DNS changes: usually under an hour, can take up to 24 hours.
  • TLS certificate (the https:// padlock): auto-issued within minutes once DNS is correct.

Tips

  • Don't cancel your old site until you've confirmed the new one loads on your real domain.
  • If you have email at your domain (e.g., you@yourbusiness.com), tell us before the cutover so we preserve your MX records.
